Here and Now Health – Holistic Healing & Intuitive Services
Types of Services
We are often asked about Reiki and Energy Work.
Perhaps some of the information below will help to understand these beautiful healing modalities. And of course if you have any questions about other services, please send us an email and we will be happy to respond.
What is Energy Work?
There are many forms of energy work, each specific to the philosophy of the person or persons who developed them originally. Reiki, Integrated Energy Therapy, and Chakra Balancing are all forms of Energy Work. Cheryl and Dino are trained in these modalities, along with several others, resulting in unique healing skills and styles for each of them, both individually and collectively. If you wish to experience a particular form of energy work, Cheryl and Dino will offer you that. If you are not sure what you would like to experience, or what modality might serve you best, Cheryl and Dino will work intuitively to provide you with an energy healing session that combines several modalities focused on the intention of best serving your needs at the time.
All forms of energy work have as their core belief an understanding that the gentle laying on of hands assists in promoting healing at physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels. Energy work can assist you in clearing energy blocks that limit your physical and emotional health; and support you in your own self-healing efforts by invoking a relaxation response from the body that allows for the opportunity for rejuvenation and regeneration. Here are some further historical descriptions that will provide background information on the core modalities used at Here and Now Health Services.
What is Reiki?
The term Reiki refers to the alignment of “Ki “(Chi), the lower principle of energy that permeates the physical plane, with the higher principle of cosmic energy or “Rei,” the Transcendental Divine Light. Reiki is a gentle hands-on healing art, which allows a receptive practitioner to become the conscious instrument which focuses and transmits that Light. Depleted energy is restored and balanced; promoting healing, wholeness and expanded consciousness. Basic to all Oriental healing arts is the concept that “ki” is the vital force upon which physical life is dependent. The amount, quality and harmony of this vital energy is essential for health and the optimal functioning of your being. Reiki was developed over 4500 years ago in ancient Tibet, then travelled to India, and from there, over hundreds and thousands of years, it was dispersed into the west through Egypt, Greece and Rome. In Japan, in the mid 19th century, Dr. Mikao Usui rediscovered this ancient healing formula which taps into and releases the great “rei” energy. Reiki is now taught in a workshop format in three levels, but the information shared is still honoured as sacred, and practitioners must vow to use this healing method with only the purest of intention.
What is Integrated Energy Therapy?
Developed by Stevan J. Thayer, out of the Center of Being in New Jersey in the early 1990’s, Integrated Energy Therapy sees itself as an energy modality that accesses the healing energy of angels, and it is considered an advanced level of spiritual healing available to our planet at this time, with it’s primary gift being that of promoting mental and emotional healing. IET uses a divine angelic energy ray to work directly with your 12-Strand Spiritual DNA, for the purpose of assisting you in safely releasing limiting energy patterns of your past, empowering and balancing your life in the present, and moving you forward to connect with your Divine purpose as you evolve into your future. IET is taught in 4 levels, and involves attunements to the IET ray, similiar to the attunement process involved in those training in Reiki. At the end of 4 levels of training, a practitioner becomes a Certified IET Master-Instructor and is able to teach others this healing art.
What are Chakras?
The Sanskrit word Chakra literally translates to wheel or disk. In yoga, meditation, and other Eastern practice, this term refers to wheels of energy throughout the body. To visualize a chakra in the body, imagine a swirling wheel of energy where matter and consciousness meet. This invisible energy, called Prana, is vital life force, which keeps us vibrant, healthy, and alive. The energy of each of the seven main Chakras pass through bundles of different nerves and major organs, and also contain the cellular storage of our mental, emotional, and spiritual experiences as they correspond to that particular Energy Centre. Fundamentally, Eastern practices of every discipline believe in the Body-Mind-Spirit connection. If we are an ‘energy being’, and everything within us is moving, it’s essential that our Chakras stay open, aligned, and fluid. All forms of energy work help us to clear blockages in the Chakra system, and bring us into a better state of harmony and balance.
What will I experience?
Everyone’s experience is unique………To receive an Energy Work session, dress very comfortably, minimizing metal objects. Try not to eat for a couple of hours before, and drink plenty of water before and after, as this helps to move energy through the body. Arrive with an open mind, willing to relax and let go of concerns for a while. The practitioner will assist you with this. Sometimes people feel warmth or heat sensations in the areas of the body that are being worked on; others may feel the subtle movement of energy through the body, with light tingling sensations, or spontaneous twitching of specific body parts. At other times mental or emotional stresses may surface; and if so, you’ll be encouraged to release them. Most often one feels light and relaxed, comforted, supported, blessed and deeply loved. You can assist by being open to allowing yourself to experience this feeling of well being and peace; and in this way, every cell in your receptive body-mind will be enhanced during the session. The more you relax and accept the gift of healing, the deeper the healing will go. The energy received will continue to work and be integrated for hours, even days after the session. It is safe to receive Energy Work as often as needed, although practitioners generally suggest you wait a week in between sessions. If you are working on a specific physical or emotional issue, you may generally expect to be aware of a significant response in your own self-healing potential after three consecutive sessions.
